The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) is pleased to invite interested participants to register via the above link to attend the IPPC Global Workshop on Systems Approaches in Santiago, Chile on December 1-4, 2025. This workshop is jointly organized by:

  • The IPPC Secretariat
  • The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA)
  • Comité de Sanidad Vegetal del Cono Sur (COSAVE)
  • Servicio Agrícola y Ganadero de Chile (SAG-Chile)

And in partnership with the Government of Canada, Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF-Australia) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The workshop will be followed by an optional field trip side event on December 5, 2025.

Workshop Goals: The IPPC global workshop on systems approaches aims to deepen knowledge and practical skills for designing, assessing, and implementing integrated pest risk management measures to facilitate safe trade of plants and plant products. Participants will gain a stronger understanding of ISPM 14 (The use of integrated measures in a systems approach for pest risk management) and related IPPC standards, explore real-world examples and case studies, and engage in hands-on exercises. The workshop will also provide opportunities to discuss challenges, lessons learned, and potential revisions to implementation materials, while promoting collaboration across the global phytosanitary community.

Who Should Attend: This event is for representatives of IPPC contracting parties (national plant protection organizations (NPPOs)), regional plant protection organizations (RPPOs), and invited industry with experience or an interest in systems approaches.
Please note that submitting a request does not automatically guarantee participation. Applications received will be reviewed, and final confirmation will be sent to each selected participant.

Important note: With the workshop drawing closer, we strongly encourage all participants to check their passport validity and any necessary visa requirements for travel to Santiago, Chile.
