Home made cereal recipe
Here’s how I make a healthy, tasty cereal for eating with full-fat milk or yogurt for breakfast or snacking on throughout the day.
- Pre-heat oven to its lowest temperature, around 150 Centigrade (300 F).
- Put 2 to 3 cups of rolled oats in a bowl.
- Mix in between ½ to 1 cup of sliced almods, pecans, or the nut of your choice.
- Mix in between ½ to 1 cup of pumpkin seeds.
- Mix in around ½ a tablespoon of salt.
- Mix in between ½ to ¾ cup of olive oil.
- Mix in between ½ to ¾ cup of honey or maple syrup.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking sheet and spread it out thin.
- Put the baking sheet in the oven for between 30 and 40 minutes, until it turns into a light gold color.
- Remove baking sheet from oven, move cereal to another bowl, and wait around 30 minutes for it to cool, then break it up with a spoon and put it in a jar with a lid.
- Keep a jar of your favorite dried fruit of choice, like cherries or raisins, and mix it into the ceral whenever serving it.
Depending on your taste, your oven, and the type of oats you use, the amounts and timing of the above can vary, so keep at it and make notes until you find the amount, timings, and consistencies you like.
Finding a place to buy oats and other nuts you like in bulk helps keep things affordable.
